USMAN SHAMI
Board Member; General Secretary (2007-2011, 2012-2017, 2018-2022)
Usman Shami, a dynamic IBA alumnus and entrepreneur, has been integral to the Manzil Educational Organization since 2004. Known affectionately as one of the 'Pearls of Manzil' alongside Sajjad Parmar, Usman's contributions have been foundational to the organization's growth. As a student, he was instrumental in recruiting more students to join Manzil, driven by a firm belief in fostering self-reliance and personal development among students. Beyond advocacy, his role encompassed organizing fundraising events, engaging in management discussions, and leading meetings with volunteers. His commitment, along with unwavering support from his family, has been pivotal to Manzil's success.
Usman has served as the General Secretary of Manzil Educational Organization during three key periods (2007-2011, 2012-2017, and 2018-2022), playing a transformative role in evolving Manzil from a student group to a full-fledged organization. His entrepreneurial ventures reflect his innovative and forward-thinking approach, which he also brings to Manzil.
His motivation stems from the Arabic word "Iqra," meaning "Read" or "Learn," symbolic of the first verse revealed in the Quran. This principle drives his vision for Manzil's children, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds, to excel in both education and personal development. Usman advocates for an educational model that balances traditional learning with "Tarbiyah" (moral and spiritual growth), striving to create a nurturing environment where children can thrive both intellectually and morally.
